Meet a Robinhoodie: Apoorva Iyer

Apoorva Iyer is an Engineering Manager for the Software Platform team based in Seattle, Washington. Now, let’s get to know him!

Why did you join Robinhood?

I’ve been a customer for a few years now and have wanted to be a part of Robinhood ever since I first used the app. When I found this opportunity to lead a Software Platform team at Robinhood, I just HAD to jump on the chance and join the engineering org. 😊

Our mission is to democratize finance for all. What does our mission mean to you?

Our mission means that anyone regardless of age, race, gender, ethnicity, or socio-economic background should be able to participate in the pursuit of wealth creation. I love how Robinhood is creating access and simplifying parts of finance that were traditionally only available to the top 1%.

What is your favorite Robinhood value?

I really resonate with “First-Principles Thinking”, but my favorite is “Radical Customer Focus”. I’m constantly amazed at how every piece of customer feedback guides how we innovate and build. We are constantly listening with empathy, asking questions, and evaluating how we perform while maintaining relentlessly high standards.

Robinhood is a Primarily Remote company. Why do you find working from home meaningful?

Working on a remote engineering team I get an extra 90 minutes of commute time back to focus on hobbies, workouts, and spending time with my family.

What is your favorite thing about the Robinhood app?

I love recurring investments when combined with fractional shares. I can turn on automated investments into stocks that I am bullish on and have Robinhood buy the stock for me every month.
